Condition Grading & Quality Checks

Understand Tech Revive refurbished device grades, functional checks, battery information, photographs, included accessories and warranty considerations.

Tech Revive Bristol phone and laptop repair storefront

Buying refurbished technology should not require guesswork. Tech Revive uses condition grades to describe the cosmetic appearance of selected pre-owned phones, tablets, laptops, MacBooks and consoles. The grade is only one part of the listing: functionality, battery information, included accessories, warranty details and any known limitations should be read separately before purchase.

What our condition grades mean

GradeTypical cosmetic conditionBest for
PremiumNear-pristine appearance with minimal evidence of previous use.Customers who prioritise appearance.
ExcellentVery light signs of use that are difficult to notice during normal use.A high-quality balance of condition and value.
Very GoodSome visible light marks or wear, without affecting advertised operation.Customers comfortable with minor cosmetic wear.
GoodNoticeable scratches, marks or edge wear, reflected in the price.Strong value where appearance is less important.
FairHeavier cosmetic wear that should be clearly described or photographed.Budget-focused purchases.

Some existing Tech Revive listings may use Grade A, Grade B or Grade A/B wording. Where this legacy wording appears, the individual photographs and product description remain important. Grade A generally indicates lighter cosmetic wear, while Grade B allows more visible signs of previous use. We are moving products toward the clearer descriptive system above.

Cosmetic grade is not a functionality rating

A cosmetic grade describes external appearance. It does not by itself promise a particular battery percentage, water-resistance rating or included accessory. Every device must match the functional claims in its own listing. Where a product has a known limitation, repair history or missing feature, that information should be stated separately rather than hidden inside the cosmetic grade.

How Tech Revive checks refurbished devices

The checks used depend on the type of product and the features available on that model. For phones and tablets, checks may cover display response, touch function, cameras, microphones, speakers, charging, buttons, connectivity, account locks and general operation. Laptop and MacBook checks may cover display, keyboard, trackpad, ports, charging, wireless connectivity, storage and operating-system function. Console checks may include display output, storage, controllers or ports where applicable.

A quality check reduces risk but cannot make a pre-owned product new. The product page, photographs and written condition note form part of the description. If you need a specific feature for work, study, accessibility or another important purpose, contact the Tech Revive team before ordering.

Battery health and consumable parts

Batteries naturally wear through charging cycles and use. Where a battery-health figure or minimum promise is provided, it will appear on the product page. If no percentage is stated, customers should not assume a specific figure. Battery performance also varies with settings, network strength, apps, temperature and usage. Chargers, cables, cases and other accessories are included only where the listing says so.

Photographs and individual-device differences

Where photographs show the exact device, use them alongside the condition note. For products supplied from multiple similar units, images may represent the model rather than every individual cosmetic mark. Colours can also vary slightly between screens. If exact appearance matters, ask whether individual-device photographs are available before purchase.

Warranty and accidental damage

Condition grading is separate from warranty coverage. Warranty details are shown on the relevant listing and in the Tech Revive product warranty. Accidental damage, physical damage, liquid damage, misuse and unauthorised repair are not treated as product faults. Please inspect your order promptly and follow the published contact and returns process if something does not match the description.

Buying online or collecting in Bristol

You can browse available technology in the Tech Revive shop. Where collection is offered, wait for confirmation before travelling because stock can change. Our Bristol team can help explain condition, compatibility and included items at the store. If a device you already own still meets your needs, you can also book a repair instead of replacing it, or request an estimated trade-in value when you are ready to upgrade.

Frequently asked questions

Does a lower cosmetic grade mean the device works less well?

No. Cosmetic appearance and advertised functionality are assessed separately. Any functional limitation should be stated in the individual listing.

Is an online grade guaranteed to match my personal expectation?

Grades provide a consistent guide, but cosmetic judgement has a subjective element. Review the description and available photographs, and contact us before purchase if you need clarification.

Are all accessories included?

No. Only the items named in the listing or “what is included” section are supplied.

Can I ask for more information before ordering?

Yes. Contact Tech Revive with the product name or link and the detail you want confirmed. Clear information before purchase is the best way to choose the right device.
